Multiquip Inc. PSG6 Studio Inverter Generator

Multiquip Inc. PSG6 Studio Inverter Generator

Yes, it’s a modified Honda 6500 inverted generator. Don’t tell me you’ve seen this one already, ‘cause you have not. It was not even at the show!

Multiquip was there showing all of the great big plants they make and since I love their modification to the early Model Honda 5500 plant (I own two of them), I stopped and asked if there was any idea of upgrading the newer 6500 for our industry. Yes was the answer, and it made its debut at CINEGEAR. Multiquip’s PSG6 is a 6,500 watt sound attenuated generator packaged specifically for the film industry. The generator is equipped with a heavy-duty 1½” pipe frame, four pneumatic tires and a locking hand brake. The control panel has all of the standard receptacles we have grown accustomed to, including an exclusive 60amp Bates connector. With all of today’s on location DIT and camera power requirements, this new style generator makes all the sense in the world to have on location. In addition, with today’s higher ISO cameras, this may be the only source of power needed to light up your set. It will strike a 4K HMI fixture and still have room. The MultiQuip PSG6 is available through B&W Equipment & Supply.

HPRC 1300 Memory Card Case

HPRC 1300 Memory Card Case

Ready for something simple that I know everyone needs? High Performance Resin Cases. The HPRC 1100 and 1300 series cases are the ultimate protection for your removable media cards. I love the size of these cases as well as the build quality. They even have a built in “full / empty” indicator. No more wondering where the camera tape is so you can mark the cards as full, and no more sticky cases picking up trash in your bag. Just flip the switch inside the case. You can order them in black or red. A great product out of Italy. The dual-card HPRC 1300 case is under $25 at Amazon Prime and B&H Photo/Video.

Kino Flo Celeb 200 LED Lighting Kit

Kino Flo Celeb 200 LED Lighting Kit

The Celeb’s technical innovations make it an ideal professional fixture: a dial-in variable color temperature control, full-range dimming and programmable 2700K to 5500K presets. Light levels do not change when selecting Kelvin settings. The Celeb 200 LED reproduces clean color in the studio or on location. The Celeb’s 100 Watts of soft, white light doesn’t flicker or shift color temperature when dimmed.

The trim, lightweight fixture operates on universal AC power, 100VAC-240VAC, and needs only one amp to produce more lumens than a 750W tungsten soft light. The Celeb 200 LED can also be powered by 24VDC battery. I found this to be the best thing about a fixture this large. The Celeb 200 comes complete with 360 degree mounting, molded accessory holders, removable gel frame and focusing louver. This may be the largest fixture needed on most sets in the future. Around $3000 at B&H Photo/Video.

SEAR Camera Holder

SEAR Camera Holder

A very versatile holder, compatible with smartphones and tablets (using a shell / case), camera equipment, and larger lenses up to 400mm using a tripod thread UNC 1/4″. The SEAR holder is easily mounted on most carrying equipment or apparel. Virtually hands-free audio and video recording or streaming is possible when chest mounted. Put it on your wall for iPad or camera. It’s very slim: only 11 x 65 x 72 mm (0.43 x 2.56 x 2.83 inches).

Lightweight at just 56 grams (1.97 ounces). You need to move in three different directions to release equipment from the holder. Even so, you need just one hand, and just one movement, to release or fasten your equipment. Each holder is equipped with an engineered leaf spring to keep your equipment in a firm grip. The holder is designed to endure rough conditions, while keeping your gear safe and easily accessible. Mount it on your backpack, sling bag, laptop bag or jacket. The SEAR Custom Holder is compatible with straps 50 mm or wider, and mounts easily on canvas fabric, backpack straps or sling-bags. So very simple, yet it really works quite well on a web belt or backpack. Great for news shooters, wedding shooters, or documentary. I would even mount it on a cart to hold multiple camera setups. It’s made in Sweden, so what’s not to like? Available directly from SEAR Holder for appx. 70 Euros.

Petrol BagsPortable Digital Recorder Pouch

Petrol Bags™ Deca Portable Digital Recorder Pouch

The Petrol Bags digital recorder pouch #PS615 is custom crafted to hold the Zoom H4N, Tascam DR-100 and DR-40, and similar size portable digital recorders. The front section and top flap of the Pouch are constructed of transparent polyurethane (TPU) for maximum visibility while shielding the recorder’s front panel and top external microphones. What’s more, the top flap can be easily folded back when the microphones need to be used. Openings on the sides and rear offer free access to the recorder’s side controls and bottom XLR connectors. A hinged panel on the rear of the PS615 lifts up to expose the back of the recorder, enabling quick and easy connection to an external mounting arm. The bottom is reinforced with a strap of durable black nylon. A handy back belt clip keeps the pouch and recorder close at hand while working. I was so impressed with this pouch that they gave me one. Expect an in-the-field test of how well it works in the near future. Under $50 from B&H Photo/Video.
