DV Info Net Names Harms New Business Development Director
New to DV Info Net, but not new to the television and film production industry, is John Harms, who will be assuming responsibilities for new business development. John has been involved in television production since 1966 where he studied Radio-Television-Film at the University of Texas. Later, Harms founded a company which began selling some of the first portable television production equipment from manufacturers such as Sony and Panasonic throughout the southwest United States. According to Harms, “Television production really became exciting because the equipment became affordable and portable—independent production took off!” Still later, he became one of those independent producers creating marketing videos for high-tech companies throughout the US. As more and more of his corporate work was being released on the web, he began to alter his production techniques to take advantage of the new venue.
“I don’t look at my job as just selling advertisements–to me is much more important than that: it is finding partners and sponsors who are willing to invest in the expansion of this important creative community. We’ll continue Chris’ policy of working only with advertisers with useful and high-quality products, those hardware and software manufacturers and dealers who bring real value to the television production industry and are willing to share their knowledge with DV Info Net forum members and visitors. And, as always, we invite feedback from all about our advertisers.”
“The whole production-broadcasting paradigm has shifted in the last few years. Not only are producers able to be more creative but they now have a world-wide audience. It has affected every segment of the production community and it’s only just begun. You’ve still got to have talent and master the tools of the trade but the rewards of an international audience are now achievable. I want to see DV Info Net thrive and empower this world wide community”.
